Doctoral course "Methodology of Research" in EMU

Doctoral course for PhD students "Methodology of Research" will take place in Estonian University of Life Sciences (former Estonian Agricultural University) in February 27 - March 3, 2006. Course will be given by Professor Henri-Charles Dubourguier (Institut sup�rieur d'agriculture de Lille, France and Estonian University of Life Sciences, Estonia). Course organizers kindly agreed to make this regular course open for doctoral students from BOVA member universities. Course will be given in English and is offered free of entrance charge.

Course content is following. Institutional development of science. Fundamental sciences.  Applied sciences. Politics of science. Management and financing of research. Applying for finances. Main principles, methods and types of research. Types of research contracts and working with private companies. Requirements for scientific work. Stages of scientific work. Basic rules of planning experiments. Analyzing and working with scientific literature. Compiling and structuring publications and a dissertation. At the end of the course the students will be asked to write a model application for finances for a scientific project to a science foundation. Course value is 1,5 ECTS.

Applications from doctoral students from Latvia University of Agriculture, Lithuanian University of Agriculture and Lithuanian Veterinary Academy are welcome at BOVA secretariat by email [email protected]. Apply without a delay. Typically applicant should write a motivation letter introducing himself and explaining how course will contribute to his studies. There is no entrance fee for the course, however students will need to find resources for their travel, accommodation and subsistence.
