By the end of January 2006 NordForsk who is the main donor for Baltic doctoral students has finished its reorganisations and renewed support via scholarships to doctoral courses. Right after NOVA course coordinators were approached and new application round was announced on the Baltic side by NOVA and BOVA secretariats. In result, 10 NOVA PhD courses are available for Baltic and Russian doctoral students for applications in February 2006. Nordic teachers from all approached courses kindly agreed to consider applicants from Baltic countries. Deadline for applications is set to February 20, 2006.

Courses in Baltic countries and NW Russia. NordForsk invites applications for funding for research training (Ph.D.) from institutions in the Nordic countries and three Baltic countries and North-Western Russia. The application should be prepared jointly by Nordic and Baltic countries. The research training courses should normally take place in the Baltic countries or North-Western Russia, and should be specialised intensive courses for doctoral students and young researchers. NOVA and BOVA secretariats considers this to be a unique opportunity for the NOVA-BOVA network and call Baltic universities to identify the most suitable areas and make proposal for doctoral courses in the Baltic countries. Secretariats are ready to assist in finding suitable partners. The action should be taken without a delay as the deadline for applications is set to April 3, 2006.
