Important notes:

1. Baltic students must keep BOVA deadline for applications despite NOVA deadlines can be later than February 20, 2007.
2. Application procedure is a little changed since September 2006 because BOVA secretariat takes a responsibility for compiling an application to NordForsk.

Application procedure for Baltic students

Following new stage of agreement with NordForsk for applications of Baltic PhD students to NOVA PhD courses new application procedure was prepared since September 2006.

You should apply by following steps (updated in August 2006):

1. Evaluate, how the course you are willing to apply can be relevant to your research topic.

2. Check on the NOVA website, whether the specific course has its particular registration form/procedure. Fill in such form and send it to the relevant person as indicated on the website and a copy to local BOVA coordinator (EPMU, LLU, LZUU, LVA) and BOVA secretariat ([email protected]). Apply by email message if there is no application form for a certain course. In both cases you should also attach a CV and note that compiled list of Baltic applicants will be provided from BOVA secretariat.

Curriculum Vitae. We advice you to use a CV form downloaded from this page below. Students should reflect very clearly how the course fits their research or PhD thesis topic at the appropriate CV sections.

Download: click here to download a CV form.

3. Fill "Confirmation by student that you will attend the course" and "Confirmation by the supervisor that the course is approved by the research training authorities in the home country of the candidate". Submit these documents to the BOVA secretariat ([email protected]) and a copy to BOVA coordinator at your home university. The template of application could be downloaded from this page below and should be filled and printed on the official form with logo of students home faculty or university. It is enough to send these papers by email to secretariat but signed hardcopies must be available upon request at your home university at any time until final report is submitted. Typically, BOVA coordinators are responsible for keeping these documents.

Download: click here to download a confirmation form (updated since May 2005)

4. BOVA coordinator at your university will complete a list of the names and addresses of the students applied for and submit this document to the BOVA secretariat one full week before the NordForsk deadline. The template of list could be downloaded from this page below.

Download: click here to download a list form (new since May 2005)

5. You will be notified about application results as soon as as they are available from course organisers and NordForsk.
