Two proposals with
considerations on further development of international master courses
and possibilities for BOVA doctoral courses were submitted to BOVA Board
by BOVA Coordination Committee. Particularly they proposed keeping
international master courses alive despite of ceases external funds and
hold up to 8 courses in 2007 allocating necessary financial resources
for that. In addition, at least four-five doctoral courses might be
arranged in the BOVA network according to current capacities at member
universities.
Rectors appreciated results
of academic activities in the network during 2006 and gave a positive
general evaluation.
After
discussion they came to conclusion that international master courses
should be continued in 2007 supporting them from internal resources and
basic internal funds will be secured for doctoral courses in the case of
their failure with external donors. In addition, rectors stress the need
of early announcement of course lists and suggest take additional care
about course contents and quality. The highest attention should be paid
to courses already developed in the network and positively evaluated by
students in previous rounds.
Positions of BOVA Rector and
BOVA secretariat are rotating to next member of BOVA University network
by the end of 2006. Latvia University of Agriculture takes
leadership and responsibility of network management following the
traditions of rotation principles. Prof. Juris Skujans, the rector
of Latvia University of Agriculture is elected to the BOVA rector
position for next three years. The rectorship period starts on 1st of
January, 2007.
